Heeere's Johnny!
Christmas is over, New Years Eve around the corner, with all that it brings of firecrackers and campaigns where "famous" people tell the kids that they should wear protective goggles. Only problem with their campaign posters is, that they hang next to ones with Elton John.... who's apparently campaigning all year!
I had a very nice Christmas Eve with my family. Great food, imported beer and nice music, that inspired a hearted discussion on Franz Ferdinand vs. The Kinks. And I managed to impress my dad with my CD collection, when he turned to a page in his new Rock Lexicon, and asked "have you ever heard about Mars Volta?". Well of course I had, and on top of telling him about their origins in At The Drive In (who's other two members became Sparta!) I also conjured up a Mars Volta track on Q Best of 03 compilation!
I only got one CD, mainly because I had forgotten to tell people what cds was on my wish list. But I did get the new Nancy Sinatra cd, and it's pretty darn good. The songs are written be a string of my favorite artists, including Morrissey, Jarvis Cocker and Pete Yorn, and are all, more or less, great. Her cover of The Moz' Let Me Kiss You is nothing short of excellent!
Tonight it's Newcastle-Arsenal at the pub - should be a blast....
